There's a saying that
goes you can't have your bread buttered on both sides -
WELL... with Shea butter you CAN. It's not only amazing for
your hair but for your skin too.
Shea butter has been a secret to the GLOW UP of many woman in Africa for many years. After being given two jars of raw Shea butter from Shea Healing by a friend, I went on a research-rampage to find out how I can use it to the best of its ability, and I stumbled upon Whipped-Shea-butter.
I attempted to make it using the method of whipping the butter in a bowl, over a pot of hot water. The minute I turned around to get a whisk, the Shea butter had melted to oil and my parade had been rained on. I placed the Shea butter back in the jar and packed it away.
Last week, something just tickled me to attempt it again, but using a different method that I found on YouTube and I FINALLY managed to perfect my jar of deliciousness. In this blog post, I'll be sharing how I achieved the whipped-Shea-butter.
WHAT
IS SHEA BUTTER?
Shea butter is
the fat found in the nut of an African Shea Tree.
The raw fat is extracted from the nut and is originally yellow
in colour. It also contains a strong odour and impurities. The unrefined is
ivory in colour and has been removed of any impurities. The refined is white in
appearance, the lack of colour indicates that the butter has undergone some
refining. The refining process removes all the beneficial aspects of the Shea
butter. The Shea butter is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F which have
been proven to improve the appearance of hair and skin with it's healing and moisturizing
properties. Here are a few other benefits of Shea butter on the hair and

Shea butter is firm but easily spread. Whipped Shea Butter makes it easier to get it out of the jar and application to the hair and skin. It allows for the addition of your favourite oils and the quantity of the Shea butter increases!
NB: The quality or the properties of the Shea butter does not change but rather is enhanced with the added oils.
TOOLS:
- Bowl
- Tablespoon
- Whisk or Electrical Whisk
- Spatula

METHOD:
You don't necessarily have to use the same oils as I did and you can switch up the quantity suited to your needs.
- Empty the jar of Shea butter into the bowl
- Add 10-15 drops of Buuya Infused Herbal Oil
- Add a lid size of Bergamont essence
- Add 3 or 4 Tablespoon of Caival Fusion
- Add 3 Tablespoons of coconut oil
- Add 1 Tablespoon of Sweet Almond oil
- Mix all the ingredients together using a whisk or an electrical whisk
- Mixing may be hard at first but it will slowly soften up and become easier to mix
- After about 10 minutes, the Shea butter should have a creamy and soft consistency -- If not, continue mixing
- Once it has reached your desired consistency, use a spatula to scrape the Shea butter out of the bowl and into an empty jar
- An alternative way of getting the Shea butter in the jar: put the Shea butter in a plastic bag and cut the end a bit and squeeze the mix into a jar
And that's how you perfect this jar of deliciousness, try not to eat it!
